7 INCREDIBLE BENEFITS OF MARULA OIL FOR YOUR SKIN

Let’s talk about the amazing benefits of Marula Oil for your skin.

Some of you have been sleeping on the incredible benefits of marula oil for your face. Marula oil comes from the Marula fruit, native to Africa.  It is a staple in african skincare routines, and it can be traced back 10,000 years B.C. So you know it is good!  Marula oil benefits include anti-aging properties, healing and preventing skin disorders, assisting with stretch marks and so much more! It seals in hydration like no other.  In this article we are going to cover what marula oil is, marula oil benefits for your skin, and last but not least the best face product with marula oil. So let’s get into it!

Let’s start with what exactly Marula Oil is, and why it is such an amazing skin care ingredient!  As mentioned before, it is an oil extracted from the Marula trees.  There are two different versions of it, one that is extracted from the seeds of the Marula fruit, and one that is extracted from the nut’s hard shell.  The nut can be boiled, sometimes the seeds are pressed, or the fruit is processed in order to extract it.  In sub-Saharan tropical Africa the oil is used as a cure-all.  It’s even used in hair and nail care.  It’s also an incredible skin primer, so definitely try using a few drops before applying your makeup.  The oil can be used daily and has incredible hydrating properties.  It seals in hydration, softens and soothes the skin, and even has antioxidant properties.  Though it is a comedogenic oil, when used in small amounts it actually works as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredient.. Goodbye pimples! Better yet, there aren’t any ingredients that can’t be used with marula oil, so it’s benefits will work their magic with all other ingredients you may be using on your skin.  Retinol, vitamin c, CBD, peptides bring it!

When talking about marula oil, we have to mention marula oil for the face. There are over thirteen amazing marula oil benefits and we are going to take a deep dive into all of them, so stick around. Starting with anti-aging, marula oil has four times the vitamin C of oranges, and almost 60 percent more antioxidants that argan, coconut, and many other natural and organic oils.  Marula oil also contains Vitamin E and oleic acid which penetrates the skin deeply and locks in moisture.  Oleic acid is one of the most important ingredients in skincare to prevent skin from developing fine lines and wrinkles.  Oleic acid is an amazing acid that helps your skin restore its natural oils without clogging or dirtying up your pores. The many incredible components of marula oil promote collagen formation and skin regeneration, as well as protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Next, marula oil is huge in healing and preventing skin disorders. One of the most common skin disorders, dermatitis is easily managed by applying marula oil.  All of eczema’s symptoms, including redness, itchy skin, cracking, flaking, dryness and bleeding can be healed by marula oil’s antioxidant emollients.  Vitamin E and omega 3 fatty acids hydrate the skin and lock in moisture to keep these symptoms at bay.  It’s an extremely calming and soothing ingredient, and protects your skin against further damage from inflammation.

Marula oil benefits also include repairing stretch marks! Even though there is no one single magic ingredient to completely get rid of stretch marks, marula oil is as close as it gets.  Using it topically is like a wonder, and the vitamin C and fatty acids will make your skin more supple, and repair stretch marks by promoting new cell growth.  Using marula oil during, before, and after pregnancy is a sure fire way to make sure stretch marks are as minimal as possible.

In case you are still not convinced to try a product with marula oil, this next one may be the kicker.  Marula oil shields your skin for environmental stressors.  So especially for all the city dwellers, this one is for you! When living (or even traveling and vacationing) in areas that have high pollutant rates, your skin can easily get stressed and react by purging.  This just means more acne for you to deal with.  Marula oil’s antioxidants fight environmental damages and shield your skin while facilitating quicker cell regeneration.

Marula oil also keeps your hair and scalp healthy.  This is actually a trick used in sub-Saharan Africa, where the use of Marula oil originates from.  Not all oils get soaked into the scalp like marula does.  Adding a little marula oil to your haircare can coat your strands to protect against external and environmental damage, especially in the summer.  It leaves your hair, healthy, shiny and moisturized like nothing else.  And if you have problems with dandruff, marula oil can help get rid of dead skin cells that usually turn over into white flakes.  Hair damage be gone!

Last but not least, marula oil is not oily for the face, but also a big deal in nail care.  We’ve mentioned its high concentration of vitamin E and fortifying fatty acids.  This results in marula oil being an amazing oil for strengthening weak and brittle nails.  It promotes regrowth, and keeps your nails healthy by maintaining healthy cuticles.  Being full of oleic acid, it is easily absorb into the skin and can work its magic.

The only small disclaimer we need to make about marula oil is that you should check (as with any ingredient) if you are allergic to it before using it.  The best way to quickly test this is to do a skin-patch test on your arm and see how your skin reacts.  Besides this, marula oil can be used with any ingredient and is loved by absolutely every skin type.  If you happen to be allergic to marula oil and are unable to use our oil with it, Most Wanted, we have a few other products without marula oil that are still extremely hydrating.  First up is our natural pain relief cream, Do Not Disturb. For something slightly more lightweight, we have our natural hand cream, Necessity.

We can’t end our happy rant about the incredible benefits of marula oil without mentioning Most Wanted Radiant Facial Oil, the “face oil for people who can’t wear face oil”.  We created it for all skin types, but especially sensitive skin. We did our research on all of the above mentioned amazing properties of Marula, and combined it with a few other incredible ingredients with healing, soothing, antioxidant, and regenerating properties.  Below are just a few of the incredible ingredients included in Most Wanted:

Jojoba Seed Oil:

It’s rich in antioxidants, and skin healing properties to soothe, reduce redness, and repair.  Jojoba oil naturally softens and smooths your complexion.  Since it acts similarly to our skin’s oil, it helps balance out the skin for anyone who has either too much or too little oil.  It’s also rich in vitamin E, which is a potent antioxidant that defends the skin against oxidative damage (aka signs of aging).  Finally, Jojoba oil is amazing for acne-prone skin.  The vitamins found within it soothe the skin (especially if you have sensitive skin!), and since it’s non-comedogenic it will never clog your pores.

Marula Oil:

A deeply moisturizing oil rich in critical antioxidants and omega 6 and 9 which nurture the skin.  Marula oil is amazing for both its anti-aging functions and its ability to help heal damaged skin, including spots and blemishes. Though it is on the comedogenic scale, we use a very small amount of it in Most Wanted Radiant Facial Oil, just enough so you can get the moisturizing natural goodness!

Rosehip Oil:

Repairs skin damage by restoring elasticity and collagen, giving the skin a rejuvenated look and feel. It brightens and evens the skin, regenerates and heals blemishes, and helps with skin elasticity and collagen production.  The reason Rosehip oil is beneficial for acne is that it contains linoleic acid, retinoids, and is rich in fatty lipids and ascorbic acid.

Evening Primrose Oil:

Promotes a healthy, clear, rejuvenated complexion by addressing roughness, wrinkles, redness, dryness, and irritation.  Evening Primrose Oil helps reduce acne by balancing the body’s ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids.  It also contains high quantities of Linoleic acid, which reinforces the skin barrier, preserves skin elasticity, prevents skin infections, and regulates sebum production.

Hemp Derived Broad Spectrum CBD:

Most Wanted contains 500mg of Broad Spectrum CBD.  Our highly potent Broad Spectrum CBD not only calms, soothes and balances skin with anti-inflammatory properties, but is also extracted in the cleanest possible way.  At The Feelist, we pride ourselves in using the highest quality organic hemp and a subcritical CO2 extraction method.  The result is the most clean and safe form of CBD that preserves the effective, superpower properties of the plant.  CBD is the non-intoxicating component of the hemp plant.  Numerous studies have shown that CBD has amazing anti-inflammatory benefits when applied to the skin.

It’s important that we quickly mention some things about right way to apply a face oil.  Believe it or not, the order in which you apply products to your face makes a big difference!  Firstly, you are going to want to cleanse your skin with a milky or oil based cleanser that doesn’t contain any drying ingredients like alcohol which will cause your skin to produce pore clogging oils.  Follow this with a toner that again, doesn’t contain alcohol.  Many skin care professionals highly recommend leaving the toner damp on your skin, and applying a moisturizing serum immediately after.  We recommend a hyaluronic acid serum for extreme hydration.  As your last step, you are going to want to pat four to five drops of facial oil into your skin.  If you are completely new to facial oils in your skincare routine, you can absolutely start with two to three drops just to get your skin used to it.  After a week or so, once you know your skin loves it, you can add an extra drop or two.

If you are completely new to facial oil, it’s going to be best to use it only at night for the first few weeks, and as previously mentioned, always as the last step.  The reason you want your facial oil to be the last step in your routine is because it can penetrate through all the products you used first, but those other products would not be able to penetrate through the facial oil (which means your skin wouldn’t be getting all the benefits, and the product would be wasted).  The oil is going to act like a moisturizing sealant, and make sure all the products below it are working efficiently to moisturize your skin.  Nighttime use of facial oils is also beneficial because that is when your body goes into repair mode, and will be able to do the most for you while you rest.
